PC Jim Bateman: "We hope you all well and have a good Christmas and new year.
Well we have good news to start off the new year as a male has been arrested in connection with three burglaries that took place towards the end of last year, these being one in Egginton and two in Hilton.
Our last 3 month priority was to highlight crime prevention based on the increase we had with car crime. Although we worked hard on this priority, car crime still remains a problem and due to this it was decided at our last Safer Neighbourhood meeting in November that we should keep this a priority for the next 3 months.By doing this, we hope that by reminding people to take valuables out of their vehicles, it will assist to reduce car crime in the area. Based on that we ask the following:-

PC Jim Bateman: "Hello all, I hope you are all well and are getting ready for the Christmas period that is fast approaching.
It has indeed been a busy month for the team and indeed the criminal around the North West area which has caused concern across the parishes.
Our priority has been all about prevention this month to try and reduce some of the crime that has been happening in the area. Whilst we are doing our best to catch the culprits, simple methods of prevention will help to minimise the chance of being a victim of crime.
Auto crime and burglaries are indeed the 'in crime' around the area at the moment and as such we have been doing our best to tackle the issue with different ways.
Some of you may have seen us out and about on the beat walking or even on the push bike patrolling the streets not only being a visible presence but also in our effort to act as criminals.....in high visibility Police uniform. We have been out trying car door handles, looking in windows of vehicles generally snooping around on the lookout for valuables. If anything is found then we visit the keeper of the said vehicle and offer some friendly advice which has been positively received.
We have also been visiting small public meetings to talk about the said issues and raise the profile of the problem in the area.
As I have said in previous reports all that needs to be done is remove valuables out of sight and especially out of vehicles. Remove sat nav holders and then rub out the ring mark on the windscreen. Lock all of your doors of houses and vehicles and close your windows even if you just pop out for 10 minutes as it only takes a minute to commit the crime."
