There have been a few comments on the Forum about the (lack of) involvement in the Forum by Parish Councillors. This is not because the Councillors are uninterested in the many items discussed. I beleive that some of the Councillors do, in fact, look at the Forum.
Every Councillor is governed by a Code of Conduct. Part of this code states, in effect, that a Councillor cannot represent the Council without the prior approval of the Parish Council. If a Councillor were to contribute to a discussion on the Forum then readers may consider that their comments carry the authority of the Council. This may then lead to a breach of the Code.
As such the Parish Council has agreed (see January 2009 Minutes) that Councillors will not contribute to the Forum.
